Two ”bunateka” libraries inaugurated in Suhareka and Decan

Last updated: 26/05/2010 // The Bunateka-project, initiated by Mr. Bujar Nrecaj and Mr. Naser Morina is expanding. What aimed to be the building of one library has resulted in now five libraries in different villages throughout Kosovo. – Our aim is to make this library in every village of Kosovo, Mr. Nrecaj said.

Mr. Nrecaj underscores that he specifically wants to build the libraries in rural areas. The main problem for the majority of the youth in Kosovo is that they live in or originate from rural areas. There are few villages in which reading possibilities are available for young people and a large number of village schools do not possess their own library.

Ambassador Mr. Sverre Johan Kvale stated that it is important to do these kind of projects in the villages and not only in the big cities. “Children in the villages should get the same opportunities as the children in the cities”, he said.

The principal at Naum Veoilharxhi school in Sahureka thanked Norway and said that this is the first investment in the school for the last 10 years. ”To invest in this, is to invest in the future” he said and thanked Ambassador Kvale.

The school pupils celebrated their new libraries by performing traditional dances, singing and reading poems for the audience.

The libraries are funded through the Embassy's Small-Pot fund (ESP).
