Photo exhibition - "Prishtina.Oslo.Berlin. People.Places.Perspectives"

Last updated: 02/07/2010 //

The photo exhibition “Prishtina.Oslo.Berlin.People.Places.Perspectives” was shown this week in the National Library of Kosovo. The exhibition presents the collective artwork of Arben Llapastica (Prishtina), Joar Rasmussen (Oslo) and Martin Waehlisch (Berlin), who simultaneously shot ten motives during May 2010 in their home cities. The three photographers captured scenes of everyday life, among them a bakery, a bus station, an ambulance, and a school.

The concept of the project is to emphasize that positive and negative sides are present in all places of Europe and not necessarily a phenomenon of a post-conflict country as Kosovo. Despite all differences, people and places change depending on the perspective: a cemetery reflects pain but also relief, a school is a space foreagerness but also stress, a Parliament is a treasure for progress but also resignation.

The belief of the organizers is that too much emphasis is given to the features that divide and nurtures dissimilarities between European cities. Hence, their aim is to stress that modern urban life despite culture, political and geographical differences has numerous patterns in common.

The exhibition will also be shown in Oslo and Berlin and is an invitation to rethink urban modern life.
