Norwegian Embassy supports the construction of a refrigerated storage facility in Zubin Potok
Zubin Potok 14.12.2011 – Ambassador Jan Braathu and Mr. Rade Utvic, Director of Agricultural Cooperative “Zubin Potok,” signed an agreement whereby the Norwegian Embassy will partially fund the construction of a refrigerated storage facility for fruit and vegetables in Zubin Potok with €150,000.
Zubin Potok is a municipality located north of the Ibar river in the northern part of Kosovo.
According to Mr. Utvic, the project will create new jobs and increase income generation potential in the local community. In addition, he presented several by-products of fruits and vegetables, which will be possible to produce after the construction of the facility. Ambassador Braathu underscored the importance of concrete investments for job creation and economic development. Ambassador Braathu and Mr. Utvic also discussed details regarding the project and its implementation, including the impact it will have on the lives of citizens of Zubin Potok. Possible future areas of cooperation were also discussed.
The Agricultural Cooperative “Zubin Potok” is a key factor in the field of agriculture in the local community and has been operating since before the Second World War. From autumn 2012, the refrigerated storage facility will enable farmers to store and market their products beyond their immediate vicinity. The project is expected to create 18 new permanent jobs and over 50 seasonal ones.
