Asylum applicants from Kosovo and Albania are rarely granted protection. The Norwegian Directorate of Immigration (UDI) is processing asylum applications from Kosovo and Albania within 48 hours. Kosovo and Albania is considered to be safe countries, and applicants from Kosovo and Albania are very rarely granted protection in Norway.

During February and March, the Norwegian Embassy has visited free legal aid offices throughout Kosovo, along with representatives from the Kosovo Agency for Free Legal Aid. Free legal aid means that the state covers the expenses for certain legal matters. Legal aid is an important tool in the process of guaranteeing equal access to justice for all.

Recently, the Norwegian Embassy in Prishtina attended the national conference ‘Tax Systems and Policies, Informal Economy and Corruption in the Republic of Kosovo’. The conference focused on how budgetary and taxation policies can promote equity, efficiency and sustainability.
